Everyone
knows the great city of Prague, especially wonderful at Christmas time, and of course almost everyone knows the fabulous
17th century Baroque city of Dresden, grand and
astoundingly beautiful, but where is the World is Wallgau ? Read the itinerary
and find out, it may well be the loveliest spot on the tour.
ITINERARY
Nov.
24 – Depart home
for your flight to
Prague
in the Czech
Republic
Nov.
25 –
After arrival in Prague you will have private transfer to the hotel which is
located in the very center of Prague, just steps from the Christmas Market,
where your windows look out onto the famous 14th century Astronomic
Clock. Depending on when you arrive you may want to join us for a little stroll
or just relax until we meet for dinner in the evening.

26 -
After
breakfast you will be met by a local guide to embark on a walking tour of
Prague
’s new
Old
Town
, dating to the 17th century, then crossing the famous
Charles
Bridge
to the old
Old
Town
dating to the 13th century. Depending on you stamina you can visit
Prague's stately castle atop Castle Hill, or elect go back to the hotel. The afternoon and
evening is on your own. B

27 -
This morning
we embark on an excursion into the countryside around Prague to visit an ancient
village, a 15th century castle and relax over lunch in a century’s
old inn, feasting on such specialties as Bohemian Strudel and hot mulled white
wine. After returning to
Prague
the evening is on your own. B L
Nov.
28 -
After
breakfast transfer to the train station for the ride to
Dresden
in
Germany. where you arrive early in the afternoon. After getting settled in your deluxe
room at the top floor of the Dresden Hilton Hotel located directly across from
the stunningly beautiful the Frauenkirche, a Basilica built in the Italian
Renaissance style, meet for a stroll through the historic Baroque Center of
Dresden, ending where else but at Dresden’s Christmas Market. In the evening
dinner is in the medieval weapon arsenal in the vaults below the city.

29 -
The day is at
leisure to pursue your own interests.

30 -
This morning
we embark on a day excursion to the nearby 1000-year old town of
Meissen. After arrival take a walk up to visit the imposing Albrechtsburg towering on a
hill above the town (good shoes, good legs are needed.) Afterwards relax over lunch at the
venerable old Ratskeller after which you have time to enjoy the Christmas Market
in
Meissen's historic little towns square. After return to Dresden
the evening is on your own. B L
Dec.
1 - Today you
will travel in the comfort of a first class train carriage to the resort town
Garmisch Partenkirchen in the
Bavarian Alps
. In Garmisch we will be met by our transfer bus which takes us to a charming
Chalet in the nearby
village
of
Wallgau. After arrival get settled in your room where a balcony looks out on splendid
alpine scenery. In the evening dinner is a five course meal is in the lovely
dining room of the Chalet. B D
Dec.2
- After a leisurely
breakfast we meet for a sleigh ride through the wintry countryside, if not
wintry we will make a carriage ride ending in Wallgau’s pretty little town
square with its beautifully painted 15th century farm houses.
Here we pause for lunch in the historic Post Hotel. Afterwards you have
free time to do some shopping or go back to our chalet which is just a short
walk from the Post Hotel. In the evening, if available we will go to see a
Wildfuetterung, the feeding of hay to wild deer and elk. Afterwards the evening
is then on your own. B L
Dec.
3 -
Today we
embark on a day excursion to the Castle Linderhof, one of Mad King Ludwig’s
fairytale castles. After visiting the castle and its magnificent grounds we will
have lunch in the hamlet of Ettal, at a beautiful inn owned and run by the monks
of the adjacent Monastery of Ettal. In the afternoon we visit
Oberammergau
famous for its Passion Play and it Wood Carvers. After returning to Wallgau the
evening is on your own. B L
Dec.
4 - After
lingering over breakfast we take the train to Garmisch Partenkirchen to take a
stroll down the main street to the oldest section of Garmisch which dates to the
15 century where we can pause for lunch (on your own.) Later we take one of the
local buses to the Partenkirchen half of the Garmisch Partenkirches which dates
to Roman times. After returning to Wallgau there is time to relax a while before
dinner at the Chalet. B D
Dec.
5 - Today a private
bus transfer will take us to the little medieval town of
Erding
near Munich’s Airport. As good a place as any to spend a last night. There is time for a stroll around Erding’s lovely town square bordered
by magnificent Patrician Houses, before dinner at the famous Erdinger Weissbrau,
a historic brewery inn serving genuine Bavarian fare and of course, the meal has
to be accompanied by a stein of Erdinger Wheat Beer. B D
