World War II Historic Tour to Berlin

This tour is a journey back into the history of Berlin during the War Years 1939 to 1945.  This exceptional and informative tour is for anyone with an interest in the history of World War II. Our associate Renč Langer along with historians specializing in this time have put together an extra ordinary one-of-a -kind tour that is not available anywhere else.

Itinerary

Oct. 19 - Depart for your flight to Germany

Oct. 20 - Arrive in Berlin and transfer to the hotel which is just a short distance from the famous Kurfuerstendam in the heart of Berlin. In the evening meet your local host Renč Langer for a get-together over dinner. D

Oct. 21 - After breakfast meet your tour guide who is an expert in modern German History. Your first visit will be to the Olympic Station built for Hitler's  the infamous 1936 Summer Games. You will visit facilities in and around the stadium including the Bell Tower and Langemark Hall. Afterwards drive to Templehof Airport, in 1936 the largest airport in the World which was of stellar importance during Hitler's regime. Pause for lunch at the "Flughafen Kantine" then visit the underground bunkers that are left from the war years. Return to the hotel late in the afternoon. The evening is on your own. B L

     

Oct. 22 -  This morning visit the museum park Ruederdorf which was the main production for limestone and cement during the war years when slave labor from 16 different countries worked at this facility. The visit will be on foot and by land rovers. Lunch included. Return to the hotel is mid to late afternoon. The evening is on your own. B L

Oct. 23 - Visit the Telefunken Complex with its original communication and radar equipment for the Luftwaffe (Airforce) and German Navy. Later continue to the Hochbunker Heckershorn the original facilities used during the war years for the Reichsluftschutzschule, a training center for the detection of approaching enemy aircraft. After pausing for lunch visit the "Haus der Wannsee Konferenz" the villa where the so-called Wannsee Conference took place in 1942 during which the decision for the establishment of the "Extermination Camps in the East" was made. Back to the hotel late afternoon. The evening is on your own. B L

Oct. 24 - After breakfast go on a guided walk through the Government District of the Third Reich including the Wilhelmstrasse, Vosstrasse, Gardens of the Ministries and Ebertstrasse and visit the exposition Germania Shadows and Traces of the Imperial Capital. Pause for lunch then visit the facilities of the association "Berlin Underworlds" which takes you through an original almost intact civilian bunker from the year 1942. This is followed by a visit to the last "Flak Tower" anti aircraft tower in the Berlin areas. Back to the hotel late in the afternoon. The evening is on your own. B L

Oct. 25 - This morning visit "Buecherstadt Wuehnsdorf"  the former headquarters of the German Army during the National Socialist Period including the bunker system Maybach 1 and the communications bunker Zeppelin. Lunch is included. Return to the hotel by mid-afternoon. The evening is on your own. B L

Oct. 26 - After breakfast embark on a full day tour to visit the Gedenkstaette Deuscher Wiederstand the former Ministry of War where the resistance against Hitler was plotted including the room where the conspirers were executed on July 20th 1944. Continue to the Heldenfriedhof the cemetary for war heros and prominent military personalities such as Ernst Udet  the flying ace of WWII. This is followed by a visit to Potsdam where you will pause for lunch before visiting Castle Cecilienhof where the conference of the "Big Three" Truman, Stalin and Lord ... took place in 1945. Return to the hotel late in the afternoon. The evening is on your own. B L

Oct. 27 - The day is on your own to pursue your own interests. B

Oct. 28 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight.

INCLUDED: 8 nights hotel accommodations, daily breakfast, lunches and dinner as per itinerary, transportation for all included sightseeing, all entrance fess for included sightseeing, the services of a guide with special knowledge in WWII Berlin history and the Services of Berlin City Guide and Posh Journeys.

** Since participant will arrive and depart on different airlines at different times airport transfers are on your own. A taxi from Berlin Tegel Airport costs about 20.00 euros. If you are a group of 6 persons or more we can arrange for a group airfare on the same flight and include airport transfers.
