by the cars, have breakfast then go scrutineering at Piazza Vittoria where some
370 of the world's most expensive vintage sports cars assemble for the Mille
Miglia check-in. Mingle with the drivers and inspect the cars close-up. Car
buffs will be in automobile heaven. You can't turn a corner in the historic
center of Brescia without running into a great car. A word to the ladies: If
your guy goes bonkers over cars take his credit card, there's great shopping all
around the Piazza! At noon lunch in a local trattoria for lunch at accompanied by the wines of this region will revive you from an
overdose of car gazing. The afternoon is then at leisure until we head for
the start of the Mille Miglia where we have grandstand seats across from the
starting platform. B L

The town was a thriving center of commerce some centuries ago, but then the lime stone cliffs on which it was build eroded and it was abandoned by most of its inhabitants. Today the lovely inner core of this now tiny town can be visited by walking up to it via a footbridge. In the evening enjoy a wine tasting in the cellars beneath the manor which continues during dinner. B D

when Frederico da Montefeltro, Duke of Urbino and one of the most influential

of a noble family whose hospitality will let you experience the castle not as
just another tourist, but as a private guest. In the
evening meet with your hosts in the castle's gorgeous sitting rooms to enjoy
pre-dinner drink and treats of antipasti that are special to this region.
