This extraordinary driving tour takes you through the romantic countryside of the states of Brandenburg and Mecklenburg from Berlin to the beaches of the Baltic Sea.  You will  stay  in stately 18th and 17th century castles, enjoy the cuisine of this region and visit walled towns and villages whose history dates back to before the Middle Ages.  More than 2000 castles, strongholds and manor houses set in extensive gardens and parks add romance to the bucolic landscape. You will receive a route book which will guide you through your trip with GPS instructions of what to enter for each destination, route suggestions, what to see and do along the way, where to eat and much more.  For those who are Porsche and BMW enthusiasts we have added a two night extension to Leipzig to visit the Porsche Factory and drive the Test Track, as well as visit the ultra modern BMW Factory.

Itinerary

Day 1  - Depart USA for the flight to Berlin.

Day 2 - Arrive in Berlin where you will stay in the 5-star Grand Hotel Esplanade set in the Tiergarten, the green heart of Germany's  chic capital. After checking in to the hotel the day is at leisure. In the evening dinner is at the Hotel Esplanade. Afterwards enjoy a cocktail in the hotel's famous Harry's Bar.   D

Day 3  -  After breakfast  our guide will pick you up at the hotel for a four hour City Overview Tour of Berlin by private bus. Enjoy this entertaining journey through the streets of Berlin taking in the highlights of both the east and west sides of the city. Start in the Tiergarten the former hunting grounds of the Prussian kings, the Reichstag (the German Parliament), the Brandenburg Gate which was once the division of East and West, the ultra chic  Potsdamer Platz with its glassed in shopping and entertainment centers, Checkpoint Charlie, the Berliner Dome, the beautiful Gendarmenmarkt Square one of Europe's most beautiful squares and much more.  At noon pause for lunch after which the day is at leisure.  B L

Day 4   - Today you will receive your rental car to drive the Autobahn to Goehren-Lebbin where you will stay for two nights in the luxurious resort of Castle Fleesensee.  The resort is set in charming landscape of lakes and woodlands where you will find relaxation and pleasure, and a great variety of outdoor and indoor activities.  On the grounds of the resort is the historic Bluecher Castle which was built in the romantic neo-Gothic style of the mid 1800's. After arrival you may want to tour the castle or take a leisurely stroll along the shores of Lake Fleesensee. If you are a golfer you have a choice of three 18-hole and 2 9-hole golf courses.  If you enjoy spa treatments then indulge yourself in the Golden Spa. In the evening dinner enjoy a cocktail before dinner at the Restaurant Orangerie.  B D

Day 5   - This morning linger over a leisurely breakfast after which the day is on your own. You may want to drive to to Guestrow, one of the most beautiful towns in the state of Mecklenburg.  A walk through the historic Old Town is a journey back in time. The unique ensemble of the Renaissance Castle, the Gothic Cathedral, the Chapel of St. Gertrud and the wonderful market square invite to linger a while. Or you simply want to relax at the resort taking advantage of it spa.  Antique lovers may want to drive to Sparrow where a unique antique shop which sells furniture and Antique Salvage, items that have been taken from old buildings before they have been dismantled. Shipping to the US is being taken care of by the shop.  . B 

 Day  6 - Today you travel to your next destination, the Castle Teschow, an elegant 18th century Mecklenburg-Vorpommern country castle and spa where you stay for the next two nights. The castle is set on the shore of a small lake, the Hausee.  After arrival you can explore the surroundings of the castle or you may want to opt for a 30 minutes Massage in the spa of the castle hotel. Dinner in the evening is at the castle restaurant.  B Dfter that, the remainder of the afternoon and  evening is at leisure.  B D

Day 7  -  This morning  drive the Autobahn to Rostock, an old Hanseatic town. A short  drive will then takes you to Warnemuende, a seaside resort on the Baltic Sea. An English speaking private guide will take you on a walk through town which is followed by lunch in a typical local inn on the beach. Later you have time on your for shopping or take a stroll along the beach.

May 8  - After breakfast you are on your way to your next castle hotel, the 5-star Castle Hotel Schloss Neuhardenberg, a stately 18th century country castle in the state of Brandenburg which is your elegant home for the next 2 nights. The beautiful park in which the castle is set was created by the renowned landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenne and by Count Pueckler-Muskau. In 2004 it was chosen as the most beautiful park in Germany. After check-in visit the Castle Church built by the famous architect Schinkel whose work you have seen in several buildings in Berlin. In the evening dinner is at the Restaurant Brennerei, a former distillery on the grounds of the castle. B D

Day  9 - Today a drive takes us to Bad Freienwalde, the oldest health spa of the state of Brandenburg. It has a hundred and ten historical monuments, more than any other place in this  region. An English speaking private guide will take you for a walk through the old town and to visit Bad Freienwalde's historic castle. Afterwar you have time to sightsee on your own or go shopping  in the many unique shops in the old town center. After returning to the hotel the evening is on your own. B 

Day 10 - Your unforgettable castle tour ends today as you drive back to Berlin - or you may opt to continue on to Leizpig to visit the Porsche and BMW factories, see below.  If you end the tour in Berlin the last hotel on the journey is again the Grand Hotel Esplanade. After arrival you have the afternoon to pursue your own interests, visit a museum or to go shopping. In the evening enjoy an excellent dinner at the Restaurant Aigner located on the beautiful Gendarmenmarkt Square. B D

Day 11 - Drive to the airport for your return flight unless you opt for the Leizpig extention.

LEIPZIG EXTENSION

Day 12  -  After leaving  the Castle Hotel Neuhardenberg drive to the dynamic city of Leipzig in Saxony.  Here you will stay on the club level in 4-star Renaissance Hotel in the center of Leipzig with its beautiful town square and many shops and restaurants. Dinner this evening is at the hotel. B D

Day 13  -  Today you visit the Porsche factory and the BMW factory which is the most modern automobile factory in the world. You will have a private guided tour at Porsche and drive the test track with a pilot. At BMW you have a private guided tour through the factory. In the evening enjoy dinner is a typical Saxon inn. B D

Day 14  - This morning drive your rental car to the airport for your return flight home. B
